Each year thousands of families across Canada mourn the death of their babies. In 2017, 1,699 infants died within the first year after birth and 3,159 babies were stillborn. Parents get isolated in their grief, and the stigma around the death of children prevents society from speaking about the devastating effects on parents and their families.

For women in Nova Scotia, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed type of cancer. In 2019, an estimated: 800 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. 160 women will die of breast cancer.

On average, women make-up about 43% of the agricultural labour force in developing countries. Evidence indicates that if these women had the same access to productive resources as men, they could increase yields on their farms by 20-30%, raising total agricultural output in these countries by 2.5-4%. This would reduce the number of hungry people in the world by around 12-17%.

Less than 20 percent of the world's landholders are women.
