Hello friends!
October is a month rich with meaning, remembrance, and opportunity for change. From Treaty Day and Mi’kmaq History Month, which invite us to honour Indigenous heritage and reconciliation, to International Day of the Girl and Person’s Day, which celebrate the rights and achievements of women and girls, we are reminded of the progress made, and the work still to be done.
We gather in solidarity for Sisters in Spirit Day, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, holding space for compassion and community. We join global calls for peace on the International Day of Non-Violence, for mental wellness during Mental Illness Awareness Week and World Mental Health Day, and for equity through the International Day to Eradicate Poverty and Rural Women’s Day. And we take moments for gratitude and connection at Thanksgiving.
Let’s use this month not only to learn and reflect, but also to connect, act, and uplift one
another. Find out more about these important dates and how to recognize them.
