October 30, 2024
As November unfolds, we're invited to reflect, remember, and act on several important issues impacting our communities. Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20th honours transgender lives lost to violence, underscoring the ongoing fight against discrimination and hatred. On the same day, National Child Day calls us to recognize and support the unique rights and leadership of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit children as they shape our future.
Later in the month, National Addictions Awareness Week (November 24-30) encourages education and support around substance abuse, reminding us of the importance of compassion and resources for those facing addiction. Lastly, the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, starting on November 25th, urges everyone to join in addressing the pervasive issue of violence against women, girls, and gender-diverse people.
These observances remind us of the resilience, strength, and community needed to build a safer, more inclusive world. Find out more about these important dates here.
